Introducing our newest pup, Great uncle Bulgaria. Some of you may know GUBS story already, The poor little man found himself cruelly dumped in a bin by his previous owners. A member of the public found him and brought him to safety in our care.
Since arriving at the home Uncle B has come on a long way, he is currently acting as our office manager and has been enjoying time socialising with the staff and volunteers. He already knows lots of things like ‘sit’ ‘paw’ ‘spin’ and is very good in his crate and likes the comfort of his soft bed . GUB is very smart and learns things very quickly, he has even had a go at some obedience tricks and has smashed it! He is a spectacular pup that is very people orientated & has gotten very good at settling with all the hustle and bustle going on. He is still getting used to the outdoors, which he found spooky at first but is slowly growing in confidence and will soon be an awesome adventurer!
We had an idea of what breeds GUB was but to be sure we sent off a DNA test to be sure he gets placed in the right home for his needs… Gubs results have arrived and we now know he is MALLINOIS X MASTIFF . This means he is a mix of working breeds, meaning that he will have a high drive , we have seen this from him already. He is looking for a home that are familiar with working breeds & that can help fulfill his needs by taking up some sort of ‘job’ for him to do. Having guarding breeds in him means that he will need to find an outlet for this so behaviours don’t come out in undesirable ways…GUB will need to attend training classes to teach him general doggie skills, socialisation and manners.
Depending on introductions done at the centre uncle B could possibly live with :
- Cats
- Children that are familiar with working breeds
- Other neutered resident dogs
